Much Respect | DJ Brian Maier
Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 12:51AM Hi there disco boys and girls-
Since I moved to San Francisco just three years ago, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by an extremely talented musical community. Many people have helped steer my sound in different and exciting directions. One such person is DJ Brian Maier. After meeting through mutual friends, Brian and I quickly became good buddies, bonding over house music and our experiences in the gay community in SF. We're not only great friends, but we occasionally DJ together at clubs such as Bearracuda and have musically collaborated on a podcast. In fact, we'll be DJing togehter this year at Bearracuda San Francisco's huge New Year's Eve party. You can also hear our mix together from earlier this year by clicking here.
Brian has spent the better part of a decade refining and calculating his musical selection. Born out of the Atlanta club and bar scene, he enjoys moving listeners with his unique blend of electro and progressive house. To him, DJing is like telling a story, taking listeners through peaks and valleys to explore different emotions with the music as a guide. Brian has a thorough understanding of what various styles are available to make a dance floor work. He's heavily influenced by the "fathers" of the club scene in the U.S., Sasha and Digweed and his personal favorite, Sander Kleinenberg.
Throughout the years, Brian has played at the The Eagle, Club 1150, and The Mark Ultralounge. More recently, Brian has enjoyed regular appearances at Bearracuda, House of Shields, Rebel, Club Shine, Burning Man, Paw, Up Your Alley, and the Dirty Party at Slim’s. It’s this sort of showing that has garnered him a loyal fan base of supporters, people who regularly come out specifically to hear his song selection and go on his journey. Brian works to provide a different sound than your typical dance floor, crafting white-label tracks and blending more hard-to-find remixes together to create something truly special.
I'm proud to have Brian's unique sound influence and push me to continually expand my sound. His great ear for a beautiful melody and excellent production makes his talent very special. I'm extremely lucky to conisder him a peer and a great friend. You can learn more about DJ Brian Maier at his website. Much respect, Brian!
